The article focuses on the changing relationship between astronomical knowledge and the tradition of fiqh jurisprudence. It mentions that regulation of the lunar calendar, the specification of the times for the five daily prayers, and the determination of the direction of prayer (qibla). It also mentions that understand jurists' insistence on perception and procedure when determining the months is as a rejection of astronomy.
