- Title
"I Feed on Mother's Flesh": Incest and Eating in Pericles.
- Authors
Lewis, Anthony J.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's criticism about the play "Pericles," by William Shakespeare. The author argues that the play enacts only one theme which refers to the personal, familial, and governmental obligation to nourish self, relations, and citizens. He added that the play uses a persistent analogy between sexuality and eating habit which are considered a vivid and terrifying illustration of human beings' response to the need for sustaining themselves and nurturing others.
