- Abstract
The article discusses the history of psychiatric practice in Ghana. It says that doctor Maclagan has been appointed as alienist to the Asylum in Accra in 1929 and doctor G. Tooth has conducted a survey in 1946 which calls for a programme to improve the treatment of the mentally disordered patients in the area. It mentions that the old High Court at Victoriaborg has been converted on February 4, 1888 and became the firts lunatic asylum in the Gold Coast.
