- Abstract
The article reports that Zarlink Semiconductor, based in Ottowa, Ontario, is leading a British-based consortium of companies in developing an implantable microgenerator to convert energy from human body movement. The group is engaged in a two-year Initiative called the "self-energizing implantable medical micro system" (SIMMS] project. The consortium also includes InVivo Technology Ltd., Finsbury Orthopaedics, Innos, Perpetuum, and Odstock Medical Ltd.
