- Title
Northrop Grumman builds Monitor replica.
- Abstract
The article presents information on various innovations. A full-scale replica of the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor is being built at the Northrop Grumman Newport News shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. The replica will be the centerpiece of the USS Monitor Center at the Mariners' Museum in Newport News. The replica's 22 steel sections are being fabricated from U.S. Navy-donated materials. Four-wheel roller skates not limited to smooth, hard surfaces have been developed in New Zealand by Skorpion Sports Ltd. A mountain bike created by a team of engineers at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, has a frame that is said to be lighter, more aerodynamic, and less breakable than many top-of-the-line carbon fiber counterparts.
