- Abstract
The first record of the giant fireflies Aspisoma ignitum (Linnæus, 1767) (Coleoptera: Lampyridae: Lampyrinae, Cratomorphini) in the city of Coro, semiarid region of Falcon state, north-western Venezuela, is presented. So far, this appears as the northernmost report of A. ignitum in Venezuela. The importance of lampyrid giant fireflies as potential biological agents to control pests of agricultural and sanitary interest is discussed.
