Imports Reach New Highs For Fifth Straight Year.
- Abstract
The article reports on the 1985 economic performance of textile and apparel importation in the U.S. According to the author, the U.S. Department of Commerce reveals that the trade value of textile and apparel imports increases by 10% which reached at $21.3 billion with a trade deficit of $18 million or 12.4%. American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI) president Ellison S. McKissick stressed that the good performance of the industry is already in the fifth successive year. A table is presented which compares the countries importation rate in 1984 and 1985.
