- Abstract
The article discusses the use of aesthetic conventions for imparting the holy within the Protestant tradition on word-oriented truth. It aims to uncover the application of aesthetics in ecclesial life, illustrate how the contextual presuppositions of artistic conventions pass out when adapted to new arena, and to establish the aesthetic as a means of knowing the presence of God. Moreover, it offers two examples of aesthetics, which observed employed cross-contextually and evaluate their efficacy in the light of Paul Tillich and James William McClendon's postulates for a theology of art.
