- Abstract
The article reports that the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) has obtained a British trademark registration for the slogan Scotland's Animal Welfare Charity. Topics discussed include the provisions pertaining to disallowed trademarks under Section 3 of the Trade Marks Act 1994, the challenges of registering slogans as trademarks under British law and the characteristics of a slogan that can be approved for trademark protection under the law.
