- Abstract
Background: Nowadays, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is understood as global important public health problem, a situation which requires a new approach. Objectives: To show the results obtained after implanting a quick resolution consult to CKD management. Methods: Results were analyzed during 6 month time period. Results: 9.61% percent of received proposals were referred to primary care without presential consulting. 28.05% percent of patients were initially evaluated through high resolution consult and 62.33% were directly referred to other consults. From the initial 28.05% mentioned, once evaluated the process, adjusted and informed about the disease, a 70% was referred over to primary care for monitoring and, the remaining 30% was cited for monitoring in consult. As a consequence, 70.65% of patients were selected for monitoring by nephrology from whole proposals received and 29.35% for primary care monitoring. It was observed a significant decrease in delayed first medical citation. Conclusions: Quick resolution consult demonstrated to be an efficient tool to CKD management. Its implantation allowed in one side low assistant resources consumption, select patients with high progression risk and cardiovascular disease for long term monitoring in other side it offered not only an initial evaluation, adjustment of treatment and information to those who would be monitored by primary care but diminish primary care delay significantly.
