- Abstract
Discussion on how breast milk shows similarity to the immune gut micro-environment, creating a sort of immune "extended gut" between mother and child; helps advance the newborn's immune endowment by further tuning mucosal immunity and CD8 memory cells in the early life intestine. Breast milk confers passive cellular immunity via CD8-depenent mechanisms. Colostrum-derived B and T cells as an extra-lymphoid compartment of effector cell populations in humans.
