- Title
The ‘hearty’ fat: adipocytes as a source of functional cardiomyocytes.
- Authors
Barbuti, Andrea
- Abstract
The author comments on the article "Spontaneously Beating Cardiomyocytes Derived From White Mature Adipocytes." According to the author, the major goal of cell therapy is the repair of tissues or organs with limited regenerative potential. She points out that none of the adult stem cells studies so far have spontaneously differentiate into cardiomyocytes in vitro. She cites a possible disadvantage of a potential therapeutic application of adipocyte-derived dedifferentiated fat cells.
