- Abstract
The article offers overview on the development of the production of modern architecture in Port of Spain. It mentions that despite the predominance of bungalow in numerous forms of buildings in architecture, a number of distinctive buildings appeared during 1900-1938 which demonstrates clear modernist and stylistic architecture. There was also influence on the work of Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew, two British architects, who contributed to the production of the modern architectural designs. It stresses that one of the most important contribution to the evolution of architecture in the country was from Colin Laird's design on the Trinidad Town House and his design for Queen's Hall.
