- Abstract
The article discusses the creation of the Littlefield Fund for Southern History at the University of Texas at Austin. The fund was created to preserve historical materials related to Southern states in the U.S. and was established by banker and rancher George Washington Littlefield. After serving as a regent at the University of Texas, Littlefield felt that history textbooks focusing on the U.S. Civil War were biased against Southern states and donated money to finance the collection for the university library. The design of the bookplate for the Littlefield collection is discussed.
