- Abstract
Introducción. Durante el 2020, la educación médica se enfrentó con uno de los mayores retos históricos; la pandemia de la COVID19. Aproximadamente 138 países cerraron su sistema educativo de forma presencial para garantizar un mínimo contagio y proteger la salud de la población. Esto exigió continuar la formación de médicos y tecnólogos en atención prehospitalaria (TAPH) por fuera del entorno clínico y con el uso exclusivo de la virtualidad recurriendo a herramientas tecnológicas como los chats grupales en WhatsApp, Facebook o Telegram sin afectar el nivel de competencia de los estudiantes, lo que representó un gran reto para la enseñanza de las ciencias básicas y clínicas. Objetivo. Implementar una innovación educativa mediada por tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) en salud para el desarrollo de las competencias de médicos y TAPH a partir del razonamiento clínico y garantizando la excelencia académica. Materiales y métodos. Se creó MediCES, una innovación que el estudiante del área de la salud puede emplear para desarrollar la competencia del razonamiento clínico a través de material de estudio interactivo, pacientes reales y simulados y actividades lúdicas. La plataforma fue empleada en el 2020 por 264 estudiantes de medicina y TAPH y 20 docentes en la asignatura de semiología (habilidades de entrevista, examen físico y creación de historia clínica) en encuentros sincrónicos y asincrónicos aplicando la modalidad de aula invertida. Dada la aceptación de los estudiantes, se inició un estudio cualitativo con el objetivo de explorar la experiencia del primer grupo expuesto a MediCES (noviembre 2020) a través de un grupo focal. Resultados. Esta innovación en educación médica mediada por TIC fue calificada por los estudiantes del grupo focal como positiva, pues alcanzaron las competencias que debían adquirir para su nivel de formación, opinión compartida por el grupo docente de semestres superiores. Conclusión. El papel de la virtualidad en la nueva realidad educativa debida a la pandemia es protagónico, pues genera soluciones y transforma la educación. En el caso de MediCES, permitió llegar a los estudiantes de medicina y TAPH y desarrollar las competencias propias de su nivel de formación sin depender de la presencialidad.
