FAO responds to PPR epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
- Abstract
The article reports on the actions made by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in response to the livestock epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 2012. It says that the FAO launched an emergency project to provide vaccines to 500,000 sheep and goats in the country's unaffected areas. It notes that tens of thousands of goats were affected by peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and 75,000 of animals were reported dead.
