- Abstract
The article tackles the studies describing the improvements in the survival of very preterm (VPT) infants at the age of 27 to 29 years. Some descriptive cohort studies with matched controls showed that the preterm group experienced decreased rates of risk-seeking behaviors than term controls despite their lower rate of educational achievement, employment, and sexual activity. Another study suggested that young adult survivors born VPT perform well in their education, employment, and independent living.
