- Abstract
In the present study, fish swim bladders were decellularized using phosphate buffer saline containing detergents 0.5% SDS and 1% triton X-100. Histological analysis of the resultant matrices showed acellularity without any change in the major structural properties. Tensile strength of the following decellularization did not significantly compromise the ultimate tensile strength of the native tissue. The results have showed that the acellular matrix of swim bladder has properties identical to that of native swim bladder without altering its collagenous structure.
