Health Inflation, Wealth Inflation, and the Discounting of Human Life.

- Abstract
The article discusses arguments against discounting future human lives during cost-benefit analysis in the U.S. It argues that even absent ethical objections to the treatment of present and future humanity, the economic estimates of cost-benefit analysis counsel against discounting lives at anything close to existing rates. It notes that the U.S. will continue to experience the costs of underregulation if regulators cannot correct their method of discounting the benefits of saving human lives.
