- Abstract
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a commonly applied method of determining various physical properties of thermoplastic polymers. Analyzing DSC melting and crystallization curves it is possible to verify whether the macromolecules orientation occurs in fibers, films and self-reinforced polymer composites (SRC). This paper presents the comparison of the results of calorimetric investigations of polypropylene (PP) single polymer composites (SRC) with the investigations of constrained PP tape samples additionally annealed before the measurement. The program of thermal treatment resembled temperature changes in the mold during SRC production by hot compaction method. The results confirmed a substantial influence of compression molding pressure on the melting process of oriented PP reinforcement used in the production of single polymer composites.
