- Title
The impact of financial market turbulence on the Euro Area.
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of financial market turbulence on the Euro Area, and offers a forecast on the economies of Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. It is stated that real GDP growth in the Euro Area is projected to remain above 2.5 per cent in 2007 before slowing to 2.25 per cent in 2008-9. According to the study, growth forecasts from 2007 have been revised down by 0.25 percentage point per annum since July 2007, which partly reflects lower than expected real GDP growth in the second quarter, due to weak construction activity, compounded by the impact of the financial market turmoil on growth during the last quarter of this year. Several charts and tables related to the study are also cited.
