- Abstract
Formation of insoluble compounds, in particular, the basic salt (CuOH)2SO4 and copper hydroxide, is a side process that reduces the concentration of copper ions in the solution and causes overstatement of the data on sorption. Formation of chitosan sulfate salt is a competing side process. Side processes and the structural inhomogeneity of chitosan and the sorption products obtained in heterogeneous conditions make it impossible to calculate the stoichiometric composition of chitosan copper complexes.
