- Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between toleration of distress and the meaning of life of parents who have children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The research is in relational survey model, and the study group of the research consists of 58 parents who have children with ASD. The data of the study were collected using the Scale of Tolerance of Distress, and the Scale of Meaning of Life. According to normality distribution, t-Test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Kruskal Wallis H test and Spearman Brown correlation analysis were used in data analysis. As a result; It has been determined that the parents who have children with ASD have a low level of tolerance and current life meanings. It has been determined that the unemployed parents' tolerance of distress have a higher level of ability to endure overcoming distress than employees. It was determined that there is a positive and significant relationship between the Endurance, Concentration and Assessment sub-dimension scores of the Scale of Tolerance of Distress, and the Scale of Meaning of Life Current Meaning of Life sub-dimension scores of parents.
