- Abstract
The research project focuses on the indication of the state of development of waterways in Poland for the needs of motorboat tourism and on the indication of the areas of improvements that may contribute to the increased interest in motorboat tourism. The proposals for improvement concern the provision of the necessary tourist infrastructure, adjusting the functioning of water facilities (including locks) to the needs of tourism and motorboat equipment adapted to the current navigation possibilities on Polish waterways. Based on the analyses carried out on Polish inland waterways, the authors recommend flat-bottomed ships with immersion depth of max. 20 cm. The weight of the ship should be selected so that the helmsman and crew can push the ship out to the depth allowing navigation. The recreational craft engines used should meet the highest standards of noise and exhaust emissions. In the case of navigation through the national park area or the silence zone, the ship should be powered by an electric motor. Considering the need to reduce the weight of the ship, it is recommended to equip the ship with a hybrid engine.
