- Abstract
Exosomes are organelles and natural nanoparticles that carry intercellular proteins, lipids and nucleic acids as carrier. In this study, the functions of exosomes, including cancer types, infectious diseases and nervous system diseases, in both diagnosis and treatment processes are discussed. From their role in activating extracellular receptor signals to the tumor microenvironment, their transmission properties including infection prevention and induction of the immune system are studied. The advantages and disadvantages of isolation and characterization methods of exosomes are examined and their use as a biomarker in diseases is analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of the isolation and characterization methods of exosomes are examined and their use as a biomarker in diseases is analyzed. In this review, firstly, the concept of exosome was defined and then the pathogenesis of exosome in cancer, infectious diseases and nervous diseases was examined. Purification methods, production and characterization of exosomes were discussed. Finally, the therapeutic use of exomzos in diagnosis and treatment is explained with a few examples. Considering the advantages it has, it has been shown by the studies that it is promising in terms of use for therapeutic purposes, as well as providing a fast and effective diagnosis.
