- Abstract
Practical experience has shown that honey bees visit a tremendous variety of flowering plant species, both in terms of flower morphology and floral reward. However, their ability to find "nectar" extends far beyond plants themselves. They are in many respects the ultimate generalist forager, which has been a boon for modern agriculture. But, how can they associate such a variety of "objects" with food? Odors turn out to be a key component in other species of social bees.
