- Authors
Werner, Ray O.; Cohen, Dorothy
- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in marketing regarding the regulation of unfair competition, specifically advertising. In a case involving Morton Thiokol Inc., the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has modified a consent order requiring the disclosure of important health facts about food items by shifting the presentation of the warning requirement from advertising to the product label. A case involving North American Phillips Corp. discusses the substantiation requirements of advertising claims. The Federal Trade Commission's concerns over deceptive advertising techniques in the weight control products industry are also discussed.
