- Abstract
The article provides information on the new Manhattan project for clean energy independence in the U.S. In implementing the new project, it should include the need to proceed as fast as possible along several tracks to reach the goal, presidential focus and bipartisan support in Congress, and starts with a small, diverse group of great minds. Senator Jeff Bingaman suggested a grand way to begin the new Manhattan project. Bingaman offers several challenges which includes making carbon capture and storage a reality for coal burning power plants, providing energy from fusion, and make advanced biofuels cost-competitive with gasoline.
