- Abstract
The article revisits the fight of Welsh soldiers in the U.S. civil war for cultural and national assimilation but at the cost of losing their native Welsh language. Information is provided on the loyalty of Welsh soldiers to their Christian faith, their propensity for drunkenness to fight boredom in military camp, famous Welshmen who fought in the Civil War like Colonel Joshua T. Owen, William Henry Powell and Joseph E. Griffith and the desire of Welsh-American soldiers to eradicate slavery.
