- Abstract
The article discusses French refugees who fled the Nazi invasion during World War II. Only a fifth of the population of Paris, France remained as German forces entered the city. French politician Marshal Pétain negotiated with Germany to form a French republic governed from Vichy, France. French Jews headed to Marseilles, France to attempt to flee the country. Refugees settled into rural areas until the repatriation of France.
