- Abstract
We studied the Barn Owl diet at Cueva La Vigía, Yagüajay, Sancti Spíritus. We used complete pellets (n=65) and feeding remains found on the substrate to describe the Barn Owl diet. We identified 14 vertebrate species. Rodents were the most frequent prey (78,4% of the complete pellets) and were followed by bats (41,5%). Birds and amphibians reached lower percentages of occurrence in the pellets. Nine bat species were recorded as Barn Owl prey. The most predated bats were Artibeus jamaicensis and Phyllonycteris poeyi. The bone composition found on the substrate was similar to the complete pellets.
