- Abstract
The aim of this research was to identify some characteristics of farmers in the Farafra area, to determine the level of adoption of drip irrigation systems by farmers, and to identify the extension services provided to farmers in the field of adopting drip irrigation system, identifying the sources of information of the farmers concerned about drip irrigation system. Affecting the degree of adoption of the farmers concerned with the system of drip irrigation, and identify the problems faced by farmers in the field of adopting the system of drip irrigation and the most important proposals to overcome them and conducted this research was conducted during the period from December 2018 to February 2019. The data were analyzed by using frequency display with frequency and percentages in the presentation of descriptive data. Pearson correlation coefficient, and arithmetic mean. The most important results are that all the surveyed farmers (49 respondents) have heard and implemented the drip irrigation system, (63.3%) of the total farmers surveyed knew about the conditions of drip irrigation in the middle. (77.6%) of the total farmers were aware of the steps of implementing the drip irrigation system and 57.1% of the total farmers interviewed (59%) of the total number of farmers surveyed did not have a desire to continue implementation, 29 (59.2%) of the total number of farmers surveyed had stopped involuntarily and for reasons, the most important problems were: weak extension services provided to farmers in the field of drip irrigation system, lack of requirements for the establishment and maintenance of the irrigation network, and the lack of irrigation services in the area. The high cost of establishing a network of irrigation, lack of full awareness of farmers with details of the establishment and maintenance of irrigation network, negative trends towards the development of irrigation resulting from previous bad experiences systems.
