- Title
Two camps of theoreticians (apropos of Day and a bit more).
- Authors
Scanlan, James
- Abstract
The article looks at the stance of two camps of theoreticians concerning the existence of the Russian peasant community. One phalanx of theoreticians not only denies the existence of such a community and fails to acknowledge it as a principle that should endure, they also reject the very principle of nationality. They wish to make of all mankind, of all nations, something completely impersonal that would be the same in all the countries of the globe. Another phalanx of theoreticians also reject a great deal for the sake of consistency: the Moscow Slavophiles, who now publish the newspaper "Day." The newspaper desires to act in the interests of the peasant community, to fight for its interests, and for that reason it rejects with special force the present structure of society.
