The article discusses the assassination and hijacking incident of Arab terrorists at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus on February 18, 1978. Yusuf Sebai, a pro-Sadat Egyptian editor, was assassinated at Nicosia Hilton and 50 delegates of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) were held hostages in Cyprus Airways DC-8. It states that President Spyros Kyprianou personally handled the negotiations and granted the terrorists' demand to talk to Minister of the Interior Christodoulos Venjamin who offered himself as a hostage in exchange for the release of non-Arab delegates and women leaving only 12 hostages remaining. Moreover, PLO president Yasir Arafat decision to send antiterrorist unit to Larnaca resulted to conflict with the Egyptian troops and violation of the sovereign government agreement.
