An interview with Kevin Barry, an Irish short story writer and novelist, is presented. Some of the issues he addressed include his motivation for writing, when he started writing in a dedicated and selfish way, factors that motivated him to write short stories, developing a professional ethic about his work, his philosophy in writing and finishing both good and bad short stories and getting a feeling of comfort in the short story form.
