- Abstract
Considering the predictions of technology experts, the speed of technological development will reach very serious dimensions in the future and at some point, the technological revolution called singularity will take place. According to the general opinion, the way to reach the singularity will pass through artificial intelligence. Many technology writers believe that this will happen in the 21st century, but they take different approaches to the consequences of the singularity. While some think that this experience can bring the end of humanity, others argue that it can lead humanity to an immortal life. In science fiction films, narratives about what the singularity will mean for the future of man are frequently included. In this study, the science fiction movie I Am Mother (2019) directed by Grant Sputore was examined. The main purpose of the study is to reveal how the subjects of artificial intelligence and singularity are handled in the film in the context of the concept of technophobia. As a result of the research created with the descriptive analysis method, it was found that artificial intelligence and singularity were depicted as an enemy trying to bring the end of humanity in the movie I Am Mother and the movie reflected a technophobic approach.
