Information about several papers discussed during the first session at the 2006 Symposium on Experiential Education Research in Saint Paul, Minnesota is presented. The first study explored participant outcomes associated with short-term academic outdoor adventure skills courses. The second study considered the nature of ethical decision-making among outdoor leaders. The third study delineated the attributes of effective camp counselors.
