- Authors
NETTELS, ELSA
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "One of Ours" by Willa Cather is presented. The author suggests that while a childhood on a prairie may have cultural disadvantages, it did not deprive Cather of the ability to create literature and preserve memory. Topics include Cather's ability to speak French fluently, her travels to Europe, and letters written to her friends including Dorothy Canfield Fisher and Edith Lewis. The character of Claude Wheeler, who learns to speak French, is discussed.
