- Abstract
Scientific activity of Alberts Vaivads the comprehensive engineer and chemist, the Latvian SSR State Prize laureate surrounded all the major silicate technology branches - ceramics, glass, vitreous materials, binders and silicon organic compounds. Development of the method for corrosion protection of materials was the good confirmation of his talent. He was an implementer of thermography method in Latvia. His practical work was connected with Riga (1939-1944) and Brocenu (1945-1946) cement factories, but scientific -- with institutes of Chemistry (1946-1965) and Inorganic Chemistry (1965-1977) of the Latvian SSR Academy of Sciences. He is co-author and author of four monographs, 253 articles and 29 patents. Albert Vaivads has been an academic supervisor of seven candidate of science (PhD) thesis.
