The author discusses the status of registered nurses (RN) in the U.S. She talks about the rapid increase in the number of RNs in 2018 according to the report the "Future of Nursing 2020-2030," the average age of nurses working in acute care settings, and an analysis of RN employment during the first 15 months of the COVID-19 pandemic through surveys from the federal government.
