- Abstract
The paper explores some of the ways higher education can contribute to regional and national development. Drawing on the experience of working with higher education, business and regional government and economic agencies in the East of England, the paper analyses how we can most fully realize the economic benefit of the activities of universities and their contribution to business competitiveness. The response is organised under six headings. It then makes specific reference to the key issues emerging from the recent experience of universities in the East of England.
