- Abstract
The article highlights changing curatorial practices for the exhibiting of art from the African diaspora in France. Topics discussed include political, aesthetic and historical significance of Afriques Capitales; France's golden age of museum development took place between the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries; and the 1989 exhibition Magiciens de la Terre was curated by French art historian Jean-Hubert Martin.
