- Title
THE SAN JOSE SITES: A COCHISE-LIKE MANIFESTATION IN THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE.
- Authors
Agogino, George A.
- Abstract
The article discusses archaeological sites in the San Jose River valley of New Mexico, which are said to be characteristic of the Cochise culture of prehistoric Native Americans. Information about the excavation of these sites was published in the journal "American Antiquity" in 1943. The sites were revisited in 1952, and updated information based on this later work is presented. The question of whether the amaranth seeds found at these sites is evidence for the origins of local agriculture is discussed.
