- Abstract
The article explores the development of 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln's constitutional thought. Topics discussed include Lincoln's understanding of the Constitution and its limitations; constitutional understanding that the national government had no power to regulate the domestic institutions; and ways in which the Convention of 1787 created a proslavery Constitution in the country , which helped establish a slaveholder's republic.
