- Title
LESSONS FROM THE PAST: THE CLIFF DWELLERS AND NEW HISTORICISM.
- Authors
Clarke, Michael Tavel
- Abstract
This essay focuses on the Casa Blanca, or White House, of the 1850s, a cliff-dwelling ruin in Arizona and its influence on the American imagination of its era. Details are given outlining the historical interpretations of cliff-dwelling white native peoples in the region and the popular myth of missing white races. Several errors and dangers of the 19th century historical method are pointed out and reflected upon.
