"NO" to Autophagy: Fat Does the Trick for Diabetes.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article explores the occurrence of autophagy during the progression from obesity to diabetes. It references a study by Q. Qian et al. which demonstrated a mechanism by which obesity cripples autophagy in the liver through S-nitrosylation. The potential links between metabolic inflammation, nitrosative stress, and declined hepatic autophagy is discussed, as well as the role of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) in reversing protein S-nitrosylation.
