- Abstract
The article reports the importance of O-linked sugar,N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) transferase protein in catalyzing the O-GlcNAc modification of hundreds of intracellular proteins in higher eukaryotes. The understanding of the catalytic mechanism and recognition of protein substrates is being represented in the structure of human O-GlcNAc transferase. The dysregulation of cellular O-GlcNAc levels is believed to be associated with Alzheimer's disease, cancer and diabetes.
