- Title
Synthetic biology: An RNP switch raises a roadblock.
- Authors
Ferré-D'Amaré, Adrian R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the biomimetic strategy that results in a synthetic genetic switch wherein an RNA-binding protein blocks progression of the ribosome. It refers the article published within the issue entitled "Synthetic Translational Regulation by an L7Ae-kink-turn RNP Switch," which describes a recombinant switch that comprises an archaeal protein and its cognate RNA binding site. It mentions that the switches were able to mimic another type of naturally occurring regulator.
