- Abstract
The author discusses the selection of medication by certain people in terms of dietary restrictions. Topics discussed include the contribution of religion on the avoidance of specific products such as vegetarians who avoid meat, various religions which advocates vegetarianism as a lifestyle choice including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and several animal-derived excipients used in medications such as gelatin from skin and bone of pigs and cattle, shellac from lac bug, and lanolin from wool.
