- Abstract
In this article the author discusses aspects of the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The article notes that the humanitarian aid agency has focused its protection and assistance activities in special zones where the national army or opposition guerrillas are active. A number of topics are addressed including the work done by the Red Cross in the provinces of North and South Kivu, the types of internal displacement the organization deals with, and the development of survival strategies by the the internally displaced persons themselves.
